Paralegal Officer

Pempho-Nthandah Chifomboti is a Paralegal Officer at the Gender and Justice Unit (GJU), based in Dedza. She supports the delivery of community-based legal services, with a focus on improving access to justice for women and marginalized groups in Malawi. Her work contributes to the implementation of the EmpowerSafe Project, where she facilitates community legal clinics, supports mobile court initiatives, and works closely with community-based liaisons to strengthen local capacity for legal awareness and response. Pempho-Nthandah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Credit) from the University of Malawi (2024). During her studies, she served as Campus Director for the Hult Prize at UNIMA in 2022, becoming the first female student to hold this role. She has also been involved in youth and education initiatives through her work with Mupacho. Her leadership experience includes serving as President of the Rotaract Club of Zomba (2023–2024), where she led community-focused service projects. She has also participated in leadership and advocacy training with Pepeta Africa, including the Writing Women’s Leadership Satellite School. At GJU, she contributes to initiatives that expand access to legal information, including supporting outreach related to the EmpowerLine platform.
