Habiba Osman

Habiba Osman is a human rights lawyer and Executive Secretary of the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), where she leads efforts to promote and protect human rights in Malawi. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Keele University and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Human Rights Law from University of Notre Dame. Her experience spans national and international work in human rights, gender equality, and democratic governance. Prior to her current role, she worked with UN Women and other organisations on programmes addressing gender-based violence, policy development, and human rights advocacy. Habiba contributes to strengthening accountability, civic space, and access to justice, and is widely recognised for her leadership in advancing gender justice and human rights in Malawi.
